Bio
Since graduating in 1989 from the University of British Columbia, Rhonda has worked in controls, protection and power systems. While her current focus is primarily on protection and power systems, she takes occasional control system projects to keep herself in touch with current hardware and software systems.
With nearly two decades of experience and projects spanning several industries, Rhonda has taken on almost every role from senior reviewer to designer, construction supervisor, commissioning engineer and owner’s representative. Her broad range of experience in all project phases enables her to be equally efficient in the office and on site. Rhonda’s career has centered on utility and mining applications. She has provided protection and control services to B.C. Hydro, independent power producers and U.S. utilities. She was involved in the first unit automation projects undertaken by B.C. Hydro. Her mining work includes copper, diamond, lead, zinc and gold projects around the globe; including Alaska, Indonesia, Arizona, Chile, Peru and Africa. Rhonda is a registered professional engineer in the Province of British Columbia and the states of Alaska, Washington and Arizona. She is also registered with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveyors to facilitate licensure in other U.S. states. Recently, Rhonda was awarded the 2008 Meritorious Achievement Award with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia. Bio
Ken has a knack for figuring out how things work. Fresh out of college in 1985, he began his career working at a small mechanical/electrical engineering firm where his talents were put to good use on leading edge projects such as the development of a fibre optic shaft torque analyzer, and an on-line liquor analyzer for pulp mills. His exposure to fibre optic components during the industry's infancy made him a valuable addition to the Air Gap monitor team at BC Hydro. There Ken assisted with the development, installation and commissioning of a new fibre optic air gap monitor for large hydro electric generators - a role that took him from the corners of BC to Venezuela, Brazil, and all points in between.
Ken's BC Hydro career branched into more mainstream protection and control upgrade projects where he gained valuable knowledge on unit control, excitation and digital governors. More recently, Ken has been involved in instrumentation and control designs for several large mining projects in Arizona and Peru and an Oil Sands project in northern Alberta.
